Ornamental Tiles
Bronze, Foam, Patina
This collection is a model-based installation exhibition that challenges the idea that ornamentation is non-essential to architecture. Instead, it explores a notion of ornament which transgresses the boundary between architectural form and aesthetic object through the lens of material exploration.
Drawing from the uniqueness of natural forms – that no two shells are identical – and Baroque architecture, this project began by hand carving sculptural tiles which were later aggregated and went through material shift to form larger prefabricated wooden panels.
